Mountain bike races get Clover’s magic touch
The hugely successful Sani2c and JoBerg2c mountain bike races were once again supported by Clover this year.
Clover tankers (organised by Naartjie Venter) played a pivotal role in providing ice-cold water for riders along the route, which stretched from Johannesburg to Scottburgh. In addition, Clover’s sponsorship of catering products went a long way towards ensuring that over 5 000 riders enjoyed top quality meals at the race villages. Tom Wills, Janet Burgess and their team ensured that the Clover products were delivered on time and kept cold; race organisers have come to rely heavily on their efficiency and professionalism each year. Clover milk was a huge hit with weary riders at the finish – one exhausted fellow was overheard saying that it was only the thought of Clover Mmmilk at Mackenzie Race Village that had got him through the previous seven-day slog from Johannesburg. Riders seem to have been influenced by new thinking in sports nutrition (led by Prof Tim Noakes) and milk was consumed in great quantities, often in preference to powdered recovery supplements. The local community is extremely grateful to Clover for its continued support, especially since this sponsorship directly benefits schools and local charities along the race route. Here’s to Clover’s unwavering commitment to health and fitness!
